Karuppu Ulundu Laddu With Nattu Sakkarai | Urad Dal Ladoo | Black Gram Laddu A quick and healthy ladoo. Also healthy alternative snack for every one. Its very easy to prepare. Made with the powdered jaggery, cashews, almonds, ghee and flavored with the cardamom. Instead of jaggery, we can also use nattu sakkari, brown sugar or thick syrup of karuppatti (palm jaggery). Similarly we can also make with millet like thinai, kelvaragu, kambu. Always use heavy kadaai \ pan, to roast the black gram evenly and without burning. Store them in a air-tight box upto one week. First heat the ghee in a kadaai. |
add the cashews and almonds, roast until golden color. |
Then using heavy kadaai or heavy bottom kadaai, dry roast the black gram until nice aroma arise and crisp. Cool down completely. |
To make the laddu flour, grind the roasted black gram and cardamom seeds into fine powder. |
Add in the roasted nuts and again grind into powder. |
At-last add the jaggery and grind to blend all together. |
Now the laddu flour is ready. |
Transfer into a mixing bowl, add required hot ghee. |
Mix and make laddu. |
That's all done. |

Ghee - 2 tbsps |
Cashews - 1\4 cup |
Almonds - 1\4 cup |
Black Gram \ Karuppu Ulundu - 1 cup (washed) |
Green Cardamom Seeds - 1\2 tsp |
Powdered Jaggery - 3\4 cup |
Hot Ghee - required to make laddu |
Method : |
First heat the ghee in a kadaai, add the cashews and almonds, roast until golden color. |
Then using heavy kadaai or heavy bottom kadaai, dry roast the black gram until nice aroma arise and crisp. Cool down completely. |
To make the laddu flour, grind the roasted black gram and cardamom seeds into fine powder. Add in the roasted nuts and again grind into powder. At-last add the jaggery and grind to blend all together. |
Transfer the laddu flour mixture into a mixing bowl, add required hot ghee, mix and make laddu. |
Notes: While roasting we can't see the color change so take care not to burn it. |
