Pudalangai \ Snake Gourd - 1 no (small)
Bengal Gram \ Kadalai Paruppu - 1/4 cup (soaked 1 hour)
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Onion - 1 no (chopped)
Dry Red Chilli - 2 no
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves - 2 stk
Grated Coconut - 1/4 cup
Oil - 1 tbsp
Salt to Taste. |
Steps To Clean The Pudalangai \ Snake Gourd :
- Take a snake gourd, gently scrap the skin by using knife to remove the snowy skin.
- Then remove the seeds and other stuff from inside.
- Wash well, chop into small pieces \ required size and ready to use.

Steps To Make The Snake Gourd \ Pudalangai Poriyal :
- First pressure cook the soaked bengal gram with turmeric powder and 3/4 cup of water for 1 whistle and 2mins over simmer and keep aside. (Image 1)
- To make the poriyal, heat oil in a kadhai \ pan, temper the mustard seeds and urad dal, after splutter add the onion, curry leaves and dry red chilli, till the onion becomes translucent. (Image 2)
- Then add in the snake gourd \ pudalangai and saute for an minute. (Image 3)
- Pour the bengal gram cooked water and required salt, mix all and cook for 5 mins over simmer or until the water reduced. (Image 4 and 5)

- Add the cooked bengal gram \ kadalai paruppu and mix well. (Image 6)
- Add the coconut and again mix well, remove from the flame and ready to serve. (Image 7 and 8)

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Drumstick Sambar
