Ingredients :

mithi pavakkai | bittergourd kaara puli kuzhambu
Mithi Pavakkai | Small Bitter gourd - 1 cup to 1 and 1\2 cup
Mustard Seeds - 1\4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1\4 tsp
Fenugreek - 1\2 tsp
Shallots | Sambar Onion - 1\2 cup (chopped)
Garlic - 10 to 15 cloves
Tomato - 1 no (chopped)
Green Chili - 2 no
Red Chili Powder - 1 and 1\2 tsp (+ or -)
Coriander Seeds Powder - 1 and 1\2 tsp
Coconut Paste - 2 tbsp
Tamarind Water - 1 cup (1 and 1" ball size)
Crystal Salt - as required
Gingelly Oil - 3 tbsp

Method :

Steps To Make The Mithi Pavakkai Kaara Puli Kuzhambu:

  • Preparation, cut the top and bottom of the mithi pavakkai \ small bitter gourd edge, wash and keep aside. (Image 1)
  • To make the curry, heat the oil in a utensil, temper the mustard seeds and urad dal, after splutter stir in the fenugreek. Then add in the onion, garlic and curry leaves, saute until the onion turns slightly golden colour. (Image 2)
  • Add in the tomato and green chili, cook until the tomato turns tender. (Image 3)

  • Add in the mithi pavakkai and stir for an minute. (Image 4)
  • Add in the red chili powder, coriander seeds powder and turmeric powder, stir for few seconds. (Image 5)
  • Add in the coconut paste and mix well. (Image 6)
  • Add in the tamarind water and required salt, mix well and bring to boil. (Image 7 and 8)
  • Cover and cook for about 10 minutes over medium flame and ready to serve. (Image 9)
