Prawns | Eraal - 250 gm (cleaned) |
Turmeric Powder - 1\4 tsp |
Lemon Juice - 1\2 no |
Asafoetida - 1\4 tsp |
Salt - as required |
Coriander Seeds - 1 tbsp |
Pepper - 1 tbsp |
Garlic - 5 to 6 cloves |
Coconut - 1\4 cup (grated) |
Curry Leaves - 2 stk |
Ghee - 1 tbsp |
Dry Red Chili - 1 no (chopped) |
Salt - as required |
Ghee - 1 tbsp |
Cooked Rice - 2 to 3 cup (+ or -) |
Method : |
Marinate the prawns with turmeric powder, lemon juice, asafoetida and required salt for fifteen minutes. |
To make the masala, dry roast the coriander seeds and pepper. Add the garlic, coconut and curry leaves, roast them until the coconut turns dry. Cool the roasted ingredients and grind into paste with required water. |
To make the prawn masala, heat the ghee in a kadhai, add the dry red chili and ground masala, saute for an minute. Add the marinated prawns and mix well. Add quarter cup of water and required salt, mix well. Cover and cook for about 5 to 7minutes over medium flame and till dry. Prawn masala is ready. Take out the prawn in the masala and leave some masala to make ghee rice. |
To make the ghee rice, heat the ghee with masala, saute until dry. Add the cooked rice and mix well. Serve hot. |
Notes: Prawn cooks fast so 5 to 7minutes is enough to cook. |

To make the ghee rice, take out the prawns and leave some masala in the kadhai, add in the ghee and heat it. Mix the ghee the masala, saute until dry. |
Add the cooked rice, mix well and the ghee rice is ready. |
