Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp |
Gingelly Oil - 2 tbsp |
Sambar Onion - 1 cup (chopped) |
Dry Red Chilies - 2 nos |
Mutton - 250 gm (bonless, 1 inch) |
Turmeric Powder - 1\2 tsp |
Salt - as required |
Method : |
Dry roast the pepper and cumin seeds over low flame. When the cumin seeds starts popping, turn off the flame and cool them. Grind the roasted ingredients into coarsely and keep aside. |
Heat the oil in a pressure cooker pan, add the sambar onion and dry red chilies, saute until the onion turns slightly golden colour. Add the mutton pieces and turmeric powder, saute for about five minutes or until the mutton moisture reduced. Add one cup of water and required salt, mix well. Close the lid with whistle. Cook for 1 whistle over high flame and fifteen to twenty minutes over low flame. |
When all the steam has released, open the pan, check whether the mutton pieces are cooked or not. If required cook extra one whistle. |
Add the roasted and powdered masala into the mutton mixture, mix well. Then cook them until dry. Serve hot. |
Notes: Mutton cooking time will vary, its depends on size and tenderness. |
