Recipe : Wheat Flour Halwa | Gothumai Maavu Halwa | Easy Halwa KesariPrep Time: 5 minutes Cook time: 15 minutes Recipe Cuisine: Indian Recipe Category: Dessert Serves: 4 persons |
Ingredients : |
Sugar - 1 and 1\2 cups |
Water - 3 cups |
Ghee - 1 cup |
Cashews - some |
Wheat Flour - 1 cup |
Salt - generous pinch |
Cardamom Seeds Powder - 1\2 tsp |
Method : |
Heat the sugar and water in a pan, mix and bring to boil. When the sugar dissolved completely, keep aside. |
To make the halwa, heat the heavy kadhai, melt the ghee and roast the cashews until slightly golden colour. Take out the cashews and keep aside. |
Turn the flame into medium, add the wheat flour and salt, stir in continuously until nice aroma arise and the flours colour changed into little brownish. |
Then turn the flame into lower, add the sugar syrup (it will bubbles up, so use little larger kadhai), mix well and cook until it reached halwa consistency. Turn off the flame, add the cardamom powder and mix well. Then add the cashews and mix well. Halwa is ready. |
Notes: Ghee roast the wheat flour well into brownish colour else we won't get good halwa colour. When we add the sugar syrup into flour mixture, it will bubbles up and turns into thick very quickly. So add the syrup carefully and keep stirring continuously. Also use little larger kadhai. Don't forget to add the salt, it helps to balance the sweetness. |
