Village Style Mutton Bone Curry | Elumbu Kulambu | கிராமத்து எலும்பு குழம்பு - Easy Pressure Cooker Method


Village Style Mutton Bone / Elumbu Curry


Ingredients :

Village Style Mutton Bone / Elumbu Curry Ingredients

Mutton Bone - 250 gm
Ground Coconut paste - 2 tbsp
Potato - 1 no (de-skinned)
Shallots / Small Onion - 1/2 cup or Onion - 1 no (chopped)
Tomato - 1 no (chopped)
Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
Coriander Seeds Powder - 3/4 tsp
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Cinnamon Stick - 2 no (2" long)
Fennel Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Cloves - 4 no
Cardamon - 2 pod
Star Anise - 1 no
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp (chopped)
Water - 2 cup
Oil - 1 tbsp
Salt to taste.

Method :


Steps To Make Elumbu Kuzhambu :
  • Pressure cook the mutton bone for 1 whistle and 15min in simmer with a cup of water.
  • When all the steam has escaped, open the pressure cooker pan.


  • Add in red chili powder, coriander seeds powder, cumin seeds powder, turmeric powder, coconut paste and required salt, stir well and cook for about half a minute.
  • Pour a cup of water, mix well and bring to boil, add in the potato and tomato, mix well.


  • Parallely heat oil in a another pan to temper, add fennel seeds, cinnamon sticks, cloves and cardamon, after splutter add the onion and curry leaves, saute until the onion becomes slightly golden brown colour.


  • Then transfer the tempered ingredients in to the pressure cooker pan and also add coriander leaves, mix well.
  • Cover the lid and again cook for 1 whistle. When all the steam has escaped, open the pressure cooker pan, mix well and ready to serve.
