Red Rice Flour Kozhukattai | Sigappu Arisi Kozhukattai | சிகப்பரிசி கொழுக்கட்டை


Ingredients : (15 yields)

Red Rice Flour Kozhukattai | Sigappu Arisi Kozhukattai | சிகப்பரிசி கொழுக்கட்டை

Red Rice Flour - 1 and 1/2 cup
Jaggery - 1 cup
Coconut Shreds - 1 cup
Cardamom Powder - 1/2 tsp
Ghee - 1 tbsp
Boiling Water - 1 and 1/2 cup (+ or -)
Salt - 1/4 tsp

Method :

Steps To Make dough :
  • In a bowl, combine flour and salt together, add required boiling water and knead in to soft dough. Keep aside.

Steps To Make Pooranam :
  • In a sauce pan, boil water 1/2 cup of water, add jaggery and boil until jaggery dissolve. 
  • In a separate kadai, filter jaggery syrup and bring to boil until 3/4th part reduced.
  • Then add coconut shreds, mix well and cook until all water reduced, remove from flame.
  • Add ghee and cardamom powder, mix well and keep aside.

Steps To Make Kozhukattai :
  • Divide the dough into 15 balls or more, similarly divide the pooranam into same part.
  • Take a ball and flat into circle, stuff pooranam and make desired shape, do the same for all the balls. (shown in above image 1, 2 and 3).
  • Steam in idly pan for 12 to 15min and ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve with Chickpeas Sundal.
