Baby Potato Fry | பேபி உருளைக்கிழங்கு வறுவல் | Siru(Baby) Urulai Kizhangu Varuval



Ingredients :

Baby Potato Fry | பேபி உருளைக்கிழங்கு வறுவல் | Siru(Baby) Urulai Kizhangu Varuval

Baby Potatoes - 250 gm (washed)
Curd - 2 tbsp
Chilli Flakes - 1 tsp
Fennel Seeds Powder - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1/4 tsp
Mint Leaves - 1 tbsp (chopped)
Coriander Leaves - 1 tbsp (chopped)
Oil for deep fry + 1 tsp extra
Salt to Taste.

Method :

Steps To Make Baby Potato Fry :
  • Pressure cook the baby potatoes with 1/2 tsp of salt and 2cups of water for 1 whistle and 1 minute in simmer. (Image 1)
  • When all the steam has escaped, open the pressure cooker pan, take out the potatoes and allow to cool completely.
  • Remove the skin and deep fry in hot oil til golden colour. (Image 2, 3 and 4)

  • Temper mustard seeds and ural in hot oil (1 tsp) in a kadai \ frying pan. (Image 5)
  • Add in asafoetida, turmeric powder, chilli flakes and fennel seeds powder and mix well. (Image 6)
  • Add curd and required salt (for masalas), mix well. (Image 7)
  • Add fried baby potatoes and saute til dry. (Image 8 and 9)

  • Finally add coriander leaves and mint leaves, saute for few seconds and ready to serve. (Image 10 and 11)

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Sambar Rice and Curd Rice.
