How to Make The Bun At Home | Easy Homemade Buns Recipe - Kalai's

Ingredients :

Maida \ All Purpose Flour - 1 and 1/2 cup
Active Dry Yeast - 1 and 1/2 tsp
Water - 1/4 cup + extra
Sugar - 1 tbsp
Oil - 1 tsp
Salt - 2 pinch
Milk or Beaten Egg to Brush
Sesame Seeds

Method :

Steps To Make The Homemade Bun :

  • First to activate the yeast, take a 1/4 cup of lukewarm water (105F to 115F). Stir in the teaspoon of sugar till its dissolved. (Image 1)
  • Add in the active dry yeast, stir vigorously until the yeast dissolved somewhat. (Image 2 and 3)
  • Cover and set aside for 10 to 15mins, if the yeast has become foamy, it is ready to use. (Image 4)

  • To make the bun dough, combine the flour with salt and remaining sugar in a mixing bowl. (Image 5)
  • Then add the yeast mixture and knead into soft dough with required water. (Image 6 and 7)
  • Cover the dough with a wet muslin cloth and set in a warm place for about 30mins or till its double in volume. (Image 8 and 9)

  • Then press the dough to remove the air, add the oil and knead again. Divide the dough into 3 equal parts and flat into circle for about 1" thickness, then arrange the dough on the greased baking dish. (Image 9 and 10)
  • Again cover the dough with a wet muslin cloth and set in a warm place till its double in volume. (Image 11)
  • Brush the milk or beaten egg on top and sprinkle the sesame seeds. (Image 12 and 13)
  • Bake in the pre-heated oven at 200 degree Celsius for 15mins (+ or -) and ready.

Serving Suggestion : Serve the bun with butter jam or patties.
