Ingredients :

Manathakkali Kai - 1/2 cup
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1/4 tsp
Shallots - 1/2 cup
Garlic - 1/4 cup
Curry Leaves - 2 stk
Tomato - 1 no (chopped)
Green Chilli - 2 no
Red Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
Coriander Seeds Powder - 2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Coconut Paste - 1/4 cup
Tamarind Water - 1 cup (2" ball size)
Gingelly Oil - 3 tbsp
Salt to Taste.

Method :

Steps To Make The Manathakkali Kai Kaara Puli Kuzhambu :

  • Heat the oil in a utensil, temper the mustard seeds and urad dal, after splutter add in the shallots, garlic, manathakkali kai and curry leaves, saute till the shallots turns light brown color. (Image 1)
  • Add in the tomato and green chilli, cook till the tomato turns tender. (Image 2)
  • Stir in the red chilli powder, coriander seeds powder and turmeric powder until its raw smell leaves. (Image 3)
  • Add in the coconut paste and mix well. (Image 4)
  • Add in the tamarind water and a cup of water, mix well and bring to boil. (Image 5)
  • Cover and cook for about 10 to 15mins over simmer or until the oil is separate from the curry. (Image 6)
  • And the manathakkali kai kaara puli kuzhambu is ready to serve.
