Oil - 1 tbsp |
Mustard Seeds | Kadugu - 1\2 tsp |
Urad Dal | Ulundu - 1 tbsp |
Bengal Gram | Kadalai Paruppu - 1 tbsp |
Dry Red Chili - 2 no |
Coconut - 1\2 cup (grated) |
Varagu Arisi - 2 cup |
Salt - as required |
Method : |
Heat 2 cups of water with required salt (approx 1\2 tsp), cook until the salt dissolves and keep aside. |
To make the varagu uppu kozhukattai dough, heat the oil in a kadhai, temper the mustard seeds, after splutter add the urad dal, bengal gram and dry red chili, saute until golden colour. Add the coconut and saute until it turns golden colour. Add the varagu arisi maavu and mix well. Add the salted water, mix well without lumps and cook until dough consistency. |
Cool the kozhukattai dough little and divide into 20 to 22 equal parts. |
Steam in the idli pan for 15mins over medium flame and ready for prayer. |
Notes: Use rock salt. You can steam in pressure cooker pan without whistle. |
