Village Style Viral Fish Curry Cooked In A Clay Pot | Manchatti Viral Meen Kuzhambu | Murrel Fish Curry Recipe

One of the traditional south Indian cuisine, No need to saute the onion, tomato and any thing.

Just grind the masala, mix with the spices and tamarind water, heat up and cook with fishes that's all.

One of the easiest and simple fish curry cooking method, made with less oil. I used clay pot for authentic touch.

This viral fish curry goes well with the omam \ ajwain fish fry and rasam. It will also goes well with the dosai and idly.

Recipe :

Village Style Viral Fish Curry | Viral Meen Kuzhambu


Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes

Ingredients :

Coconut - 1\4 cup
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Sambar Onion - 15 nos
Garlic - 7 cloves
Tomato - 1 no
Tamarind Water - 1 cup (1 & 1\2 inch ball size)
Red Chilli Powder - 1 & 1\2 tsps
Turmeric Powder - 1\4 tsp
Required Salt
Green Chillies - 2 no (cut into 2 to 3 pieces)
Curry Leaves - 2 to 3 sticks
Viral Fish Pieces - 1\2 kg
Sesame Oil - 2 tbsps
Method :
First grind the coconut and cumin seeds into paste, keep aside.
Then grind the sambar onion, garlic and tomato into slightly coarsely paste, keep aside.
In a clay vessel, add the ground coconut mixture, ground onion mixture, tamarind water, red chili powder, turmeric powder, green chilies, curry leaves and required salt. Mix all.
Curry mixture should not be too thick, so adjust the water consistency as required.
Heat up the curry mixture, bring to boil and cook for about five to seven minutes to remove its raw smell.
Add in the viral fish pieces and immerse them in the curry.
Bring to boil and then add the sesame oil.
Cover and cook for about three minutes over medium flame.
That's all and serve hot.
Notes: Adjust the spiciness as per your taste.
