Village Style Sweet Jaggery Pongal
Ingredients :

Village Style Sweet Jaggery Pongal

Raw Rice / Ponni Arisi / Pacha Arisi - 1 cup
Green Gram / Moong Dal / Paasi Paruppu - 1/2 cup
Jaggery / Achu Vellam - 1 cup (crushed)

Coconut Shreds - 1/2 cup
Dry Ginger Powder / Sukku - 1 tsp
Cashew nuts - 20 nos
Raisins - 20 nos
Cardamom - 3 nos (crushed)
Ghee - 3 tbsp

Water - 5 cup 

Method :

Village Style Sweet Jaggery Pongal

  • First roast Cashewnut and Raisin with 2 tbsp of Ghee separately and keep aside.
  • Then again roast Green Gram (skinless) until aroma rise and keep aside.

  • Now boil Water in a Pongal Pot, add Raw Rice and fried Green Gram, cook for 15mins to 20mins in simmer until both cooks.

  • Then add Jaggery and saute until melts.
  • Now add Cashewnut, Raisin and Coconut Shreds, mix well.

Village Style Sweet Jaggery Pongal

  • Add Dry Ginger and Cardamon Powder, mix well.
  • Finally add remaining Ghee, mix well and ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Methu Vadai / Ulundu Vadai and Ven Pongal
