Simple Homemade Gulab Jamun Made with Milk Powder -Diwali Special

Ingredients :

Home-made Gulab Jamun with Milk Powder
Ghee for frying.

To Make Gulab Jamun Dough :


Milk Powder - 2 cups
Maida \ All Purpose Flour - 4 tsp (leveled)
Baking Powder - 1 tsp
Ghee - 1 tbsp
Milk or Water - required.

To Make Sugar Syrup :


Sugar - 1 cup
Water - 1 cup
Cardamom - 3 nos
Lemon Juice - 1/2 no (optional).

Method :
Gulab Jamun

Steps To Make The Gulab Jamun :

  • First to make the gulab jamun dough, combine all mentioned ingredients in a bowl except milk, mix well, then add required milk and knead in to very soft dough.
  • Soak the dough for about 10mins.
  • Meanwhile, make the sugar syrup in a sticky consistency / pisukku patham, then add crushed cardamom, mix well and keep aside.
  • Then make small balls out of the dough and keep aside.
Gulab Jamun
  • To make the gulab jamun, heat ghee in a kadhai / frying pan, reduce the flame into simmer, drop the dough balls (small batches) and fry them until brown colour.
  • Then pour into sugar syrup, allow them to soak for about 3 - 4 hours or over night and ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve with Crispy Butter Murukku / Thenkuzhal Murukku and Ice Cream
