Mutton Kari Dosai / Kari Dosai / Meat Dosa / கறி தோசை


Ingredients : (serves 3)

Mutton Kari Dosai / Kari Dosai / Meat Dosa / கறி தோசை

Meat / Mutton - 300 gm (boneless, chopped, 1")
Dosa Batter - 2 cups (click here : How to make Dosa batter)
Egg - 3 nos
Onion - 1 no (finely chopped)
Tomato - 1 no (finely chopped)
Green Chili - 1 no (finely chopped)
Ginger - 1 tsp (crushed)
Garlic - 5 cloves (crushed)
Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp
Roasted Fennel Seeds Powder - 1 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 1 tbsp + 1 tbsp
Gingelly Oil - required
Water - 1 cup
Salt to taste.

Method :

Mutton Kari Dosai / Kari Dosai / Meat Dosa / கறி தோசை

Steps To Make Kari Dosai Gravy (topping) : (shown in above image)
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker pan, add onion, saute til the onion becomes light golden colour. Then add ginger garlic paste and saute until its raw smell leaves. (Image 1)
  • Add tomato and green chili, saute till the tomato becomes tender. (Image 2)
  • Then add meat / mutton and turmeric powder, saute til the meat moisture has reduced completely. (Image 3)
  • Add red chili powder, garam masala and fennel seeds powder, saute til raw smell leaves. (Image 4)
  • Pour water and add required salt, bring to boil, then close the lid and cook for 1 whistle and 15mins in simmer. (Image 5)
  • When all the steam has escaped,  open the pressure cooker pan and again cook til thick gravy consistency. Finally add Coriander leaves, mix well and keep aside.(Image 6)

Steps to make Kari Dosai / Meat Dosa : (shown in above image)
  • Heat iron tawa or non-stick tawa, take a ladle full of batter and spread into circle (like oothappam), turn the flame into simmer. ( shown in above image 1).
  • Then break the egg over the batter and smash it well using ladle back side. ( shown in above image 2 & 3).
  • Spread the mutton / meat gravy over the egg, then sprinkle some coriander leaves, also pour little oil around and top of the dosa. (shown in above image in 4).
  • Then flip the dosa without breaking it and gently press it. Cook until well done. (Image 5)
  • Ready to serve. (Image 6)

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Onion Raita.
