Karuvepillai Idly Podi | கறிவேப்பிலை இட்லி பொடி | Curry Leaves Idli Powder



Ingredients :

Karuvepillai Idly Podi | கறிவேப்பிலை இட்லி பொடி | Curry Leaves Idli Powder

Curry Leaves - 1 and 1/2 cup
Urad Dal - 2 tbsp
Bengal Gram / Kadalai Paruppu - 2 tbsp
Dry Red Chili - 5 no
Garlic - 2 cloves
Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
Gingelly Oil - 2 tsp
Salt to Taste.

Method :

Steps To Make Karuvepillai Idly Podi :
  • Heat a teaspoon of oil in a kadai \ frying pan, roast the bengal gram till golden brown colour and keep aside. (Image 1)
  • Again heat a teaspoon of oil, roast the urad dal and dry red chili til golden colour. (Image 2)
  • Add in asafoetida, saute for few seconds and keep aside. (Image 3)
  • Then saute curry leaves til its moisture has reduced completely and keep aside. (Image 4 and 5)
  • Allow to cool completely.

  • To make powder, first grind bengal gram, urad dal, dry red chili and required salt into powder. (Image 6 and 7)
  • Add curry leaves and grind into powder. (Image 8)
  • Add garlic and again grind into powder, ready to serve. (Image 9 and 10)

Serving Suggestion : Serve with Ghee or Gingelly Oil for Idly and Dosai.
