Sigappu Thandu Keerai Kootu

Coconut Milk Sigapu Thandu Keerai Kootu in a Pressure Cook Method

Ingredients :

Sigappu Thandu Keerai - 2 cup (washed, chopped)
Pasi Paruppu \ skinless green gram - 1/4 cup
Onion - 1 no (chopped)
Garlic - 1 tbsp (chopped)
Green Chilli - 1 no (chopped)
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1/4 tsp
Coconut Milk - 1st extract 1 cup
Coconut Milk - 2nd extract 1 cup
Oil - 1 tbsp
Salt to Taste.

Method :

Preparation :

  • Wash and soak the pasi paruppu for half an hour. (Image 1)

Steps To Make The Sigappu Thandu Keerai Kootu :

  • In a pressure cooker pan, temper the mustard seeds and urad dal in a hot oil. (Image 2)
  • Stir in the onion, garlic and green chilli till the onion turn translucent. (Image 3)
  • Then stir in the keerai for an minute. (Image 4)
  • Add the soaked dal. (Image 5)
  • Then add the second extracted coconut milk and required salt, bring to boil and cook for 1 whistle and 2 to 3mins over simmer. (Image 6)
  • When all the steam has released, open the pressure cooker pan. (Image 7)
  • Finally add the first extracted coconut milk, mix well and bring to boil, then remove from the flame and ready to serve.
Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Crispy Taro Fry.
