Naattu Kozhi \ Country Chicken - 1/2 kg
Shallots - 1/2 cup (chopped)
Green Chilli - 1 no
Garlic - 7 cloves
Red Chilli Paste - 1 tbsp (blanched, paste)
Cashews - 1/4 cup
Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Butter - 3 tbsp
Salt to Taste. |
Steps To Make The Nattu Kozhi Vathakkal :
- Pressure cook the nattu kozhi \ country chicken pieces with 3/4 cup of water, turmeric powder and required salt for 1 whistle and 10mins over simmer. When all the steam has released, open and keep aside. (Image 1)

- To make the nattu kozhi vathakkal, first grind the shallots, green chilli and garlic into fine paste. (Image 2 and 3)
- Heat the butter \ ghee in a hot kadhai, saute the shallots mixture paste until its raw smell leaves. (Image 4)
- Stir in the red chilli paste, little salt and red food color (optional) (Image 5)
- Then add the pressure cooked nattu kozhi \ country chicken pieces with its stock, mix gently and cook till the stock reduced. (Image 6 and 7)
- Finally add the pepper powder and cashews, mix gently and ready to serve.
