Kalkandu Vadai | Sugar Candy \ Rock Sugar Vada - Pongal Special !

Ingredients :

Vadai
Kalkandu \ Sugar Candy - 1/4 cup (powdered)
Ulundu \ Urad Dal - 1/2 cup
Pachai Arisi \ Raw Rice - 2 tbsp
Salt - pinch.

Steps To Make The Kalkandu Vadai Batter and Vadai :

  • Soak the pachai arisi \ raw rice and ulundu \ urad dal for an hour and refrigerate for half an hour. (Image 1) (for wet grinder, don't need to refrigerate)
  • Drain the water completely. (Image 2)
  • Then powder the kalkandu \ sugar candy. (Image 3 and 4)

  • To make the batter, grind the soaked urad dal and rice coarsely. (Image 5)
  • Then add the powdered sugar candy and pinch of salt, and grind into fine paste without water. (Image 6 and 7)
  • Make the vadai in the hot oil over simmer till golden brown color on both sides and ready to serve. (Image 8)

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with the sweet pongal and ven pongal.
