Nalli Elumbu Kari Kuzhambu | நல்லி எலும்பு கறி குழம்பு | Mutton \ Meat Narrow Bone Curry recipe is traditional south Indian cuisine, is made with the twist of cashews paste, tomato puree and simple ingredients in a authentic taste.

Ingredients :

Nalli Elumbu
Mutton Nalli Elumbu Kari - 350 gm
Cinnamon Stick - 2 no (2" long)
Cardamom - 3 no
Cloves - 3 no
Shallots \ Sambar Onion - 1/2 cup (chopped)
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp + 1/2 tsp
Tomato - 1 no
Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp + 1/2 tsp
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1 tsp
Fennel Seeds Powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp
Cashews - 10 to 12 no
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
Gingelly Oil - 3 tbsp
Salt to Taste.

Method :

Steps To Make The Nalli Elumbu Kari Kuzhambu \ Gravy :

  • In a pressure cooker pan, add the nalli elumbu, 1 tsp of red chilli powder, turmeric powder, 1 tsp of ginger garlic paste and required salt, mix altogether. Then add a cup of water and mix well again. (Image 1 and 2)
  • Cook for 1 whistle and 25mins (+ or -) over simmer. When all the steam has released, open the pan and keep aside. (Image 3)

  • Meantime, blanch the tomato and cashew separately with required water. De-skin the tomato, grind into fine paste and keep separately both. (Image 4, 5 and 6)
  • To make the curry, heat the oil in a kadhai and roast the cinnamon stick, cardamon and cloves.(Image 7)
  • Add in the shallots and cook until its turn light brown color. (Image 8).
  • Stir in the ginger garlic paste till its raw smell leaves. (Image 9)
Nalli Elumbu
  • Stir in the tomato paste and cook till its moisture reduced. (Image 10)
  • Add in the red chilli powder, cumin seeds powder, fennel seeds powder and pepper powder, and mix well. (Image 11)
  • Add in the cashew paste and mix well. (Image 12)
  • Add a cup of water and required salt, mix well and bring to boil. (Image 13)
  • Then add the pressure cooked nalli elumbu mixture, mix altogether and cook for 5 minutes over simmer. Finally add the coriander leaves, mix well and ready to serve. (Image 14 and 15)

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Chapati, Naan, Poori, Parotta, Idly, Dosai, Idiyappam, Appam or white rice.
