It is made from the kambu maavu | pearl millet flour, nattu cholam maavu | jowar millet flour, gothumai maavu | whole wheat atta flour and whey water. Now for the recipe...

Ingredients :

millet chapathi
Kambu Arisi Maavu | Pearl Millet Flour - 1/2 cup
Cholam Maavu | Jowar Millet Flour - 1/2 cup
Gothumai Maavu | Whole Wheat Flour - 1/2 cup
Whey Water - required
Oil \ Ghee - 1 tbsp + required
Salt To Taste.

Method :

Steps To Make The Millet Chapatti :

  • To make the millet chapatti dough, in a mixing bowl, add the kambu maavu, cholam maavu, gothumai maavu, required salt and oil, mix well altogether. (Image 1)
  • Then knead into soft dough with required whey water. (Image 2 and 3)
  • Cover and rest the millet dough for at least half an hour.
  • To make the millet chapatti, divide the dough into eight equal balls or divide into required size. (Image 4)

  • Using wheat flour, roll out the each dough balls into circle. (Image 5 and 6)
  • Then cook on hot iron tawa for few seconds on both sides, then add a teaspoon of oil or more and cook until brown spots appear on both sides. (Image 7 and 8)
  • Do the same for remaining rolled dough and serve hot.

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Butter Paneer Masala Gravy or Sprouted Moong Dal Gravy.
