Onion - 1 no |
Ginger - 2 inches |
Garlic - 10 to 12 cloves |
Green Chilies - 2 nos |
Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp |
Fennel Seeds Powder - 1 tsp |
Turmeric Powder - 1\2 tsp |
Mint Leaves - 2 tbsps (chopped) |
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsps (chopped) |
Prawns | Eraal - 500 gms (cleaned) |
Fresh Curd - 3\4 cup |
Salt - as required |
Basmathi Rice - 2 cups |
Ghee - 2 tbsps + 2 tbsps |
Onion - 1 no (sliced) |
Mint Leaves - 2 tbsps (chopped) |
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsps (chopped) |
Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp |
Water - 2 1\4 cups |
Lemon Juice - 1\2 no |
Salt - as required. |
Method : |
Grind the onion, ginger, garlic, green chilies, garam masala, fennel seeds powder, turmeric powder, mint leaves and coriander leaves into fine paste. |
Marinate the prawns with the ground masala, curd and salt for about thirty minutes. |
Wash and soak the basmathi rice for about thirty minutes. Then ghee (2 tbsps) roast the soaked basmathi rice and keep aside. |
To make the prawn biryani, Heat the remaining ghee in a pressure cooker pan, saute the onion until it turns into slightly golden colour. Stir in the mint leaves, coriander leaves. Add the marinated prawn and red chili powder, saute for one or two minute. Add the water, lemon juice and required salt. Bring to boil. |
Pressure cook for one whistle over high flame and two minutes over low flame. When all the steam has released, open the pan, mix gently and serve hot. |
