Ingredients :

Vazhai Poo - 1 cup (finely chopped)
Kadalai Maavu | Besan Flour - 1 cup
Arisi Maavu | Rice Flour - 1/4 cup
Shallots - 1/2 cup (chopped)
Green Chili - 2 no (finely chopped)
Garlic Cloves - 5 to 7 (crushed)
Fennel Seeds - 1 tsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Mint Leaves - 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp
Curry Leaves - 2 stk
Oil - 2 tbsp + deep fry
Salt To Taste.

Steps To Make The Vazhai Poo Pakkoda :

  • To make the vazhai poo pakkoda dough, mix the vazhai poo, besan flour, rice flour, shallots, green chili, garlic, fennel seeds, asafoetida, mint leaves, coriander leaves, curry leaves, required salt and hot oil in a mixing bowl and mix altogether. (Image 1 and 2)
  • Then add the required chilled water and knead into soft dough. (Image 3)
  • To make the pakkoda, heat enough oil to deep fry, using hand, pinch some dough (required size) little by little on the hot oil. (Image 4)
  • Cook until golden brown colour on all side over medium flame. (Image 5)
  • Drain the excess oil using tissue paper and serve hot. (Image 6)
  • To store, cool the pakkoda completely and store in a air tight box. Shelf life is around four to five days.

Serving Suggestion: Serve the pakkoda with milk rice or tamarind curry.
