Ingredients :

Siru Kizhangu - 250 gm
Mustard Seeds - 1\4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1\4 tsp
Shallots | Sambar Onion - 1\2 cup (chopped)
Green Chili - 1\2 no (finely chopped)
Dry Red Chili - 2 no
Crushed Ginger - 1 tsp
Crushed Garlic - 1 tsp
Curry Leaves - 2 stk
Grated Coconut - 1\4 cup
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp (chopped)
Oil - 2 tbsp
Salt to Taste.

Method :

Steps To Make The Siru Kizhangu Coconut Poriyal:

  • Wash and pressure cook the siru kizhangu with a cup of water for 1 whistle and 5 minutes over simmer. When all the steam has escaped, open the pan and cool them completely. (Image 1)
  • Then remove the skin and chop into small pieces. (Image 2)
  • To make the poriyal, heat the oil in a hot kadhai, temper the mustard seeds and urad dal, after splutter add the shallots, green chili and red chili, saute until the onion turns slightly golden colour. (Image 3)
  • Add the ginger, garlic and curry leaves, saute until its raw smell leaves completely. (Image 4)

  • Add the prepared siru kizhangu and required salt, cook for an minute. (Image 5)
  • Add the grated coconut and mix well. Finally add the coriander leaves, mix well and ready to serve. (Image 6 and 7)
