Ingredients :

Ellu Kozhukattai
Pachai Arisi Maavu | Raw Rice Flour - 1 cup
Karuppu Ellu | Black Sesame Seeds - 1/2 cup
Elakkai | Cardamom - 2 pods
Thengai | Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
Vellam | Jaggery - 1/2 cup
Water - 1 and 1/2 cup
Oil - 2 tsp
Ghee - 1 tbsp + extra
Salt to Taste.

Steps To Make The Ellu Kozhukattai | Sesame Seeds Kozhukattai Recipe:

To make the ellu pooranam \ stuffing, first dry roast the ellu in a hot kadhai \ pan till its splutter well.
Then cool the roasted ellu completely, grind into powder with cardamom pods and keep aside.

Heat the ghee in the same kadhai, add in the coconut and roast well until slightly golden colour. Add in the crushed jaggery and cook till its melts completely. (If the jaggery contains impurities, make jaggery syrup with quarter cup of water, filter and then use). Add in the ground ellu mixture, mix well and ellu pooranam is ready for stuffing. Cool them completely.

To make the kozhukattai dough, heat one and half cup of water in a pan with a teaspoon of oil and required salt. Bring to boil. Stir in the rice flour and mix continuously without lumps till the flour becomes into a very soft dough. Cool the dough little and the kozhukattai dough is ready

To make the kozhukattai, take some dough for about 2" ball size, using ghee flat into thin circle, place two teaspoon of prepared ellu pooranum \ stuffing in the center, bring all the sides together and press gently to form mothagam shape or make your desired shape. Do the same for the remaining dough and keep aside.

To steam the kozhukattai, heat two to three centimeter of water in a idli pan or required water and bring to boil. Place the top plate, spread the damp cloth over the plate and then arrange the prepared kozhukattai. Cover and cook for 10mins over medium flame and ready to serve.
